The Kirk of Calder is the Church of Scotland
Parish Church serving the communities of Mid Calder and Pumpherston
and is located on Main St., Mid Calder, West Lothian, EH53 0AN, Scotland. UK
Services are held every Sunday morning at
10.30am, (an extra family service is held at 9:30am in the summer
months)
Our Minister is Rev. John M Povey

most welcome to any Sunday morning service!

STB attraction and is open to the public on Sunday Afternoons (from
April to
September) between 2 and 4pm. Admission is FREE!
The church won the
West Lothian Award for Conservation in 1992. Previous visitors include John
Knox, James Paraffin Young, David Livingstone and Frederick Chopin - and we
look forward to meeting you too!

photograph "anything that didn't move" and has come up
with some more spectacular photos including features and carvings

we are still looking for photos of past and present weddings and

Conacher, 1888.
There
are a number of Publications on the history of the church and
village that are now available (perhaps for a gift?)

how the church has been used as a Teaching Project for year 7 pupils Jim
Fanning, Assistant Head teacher of Tideway Community School has created
an excellent educational site, using our church as the basis, for use
by Year 7 pupils studying aspects of church life. Not only does it
find an interesting and entertaining way to learn about our Church's
history but you can even take a moving 360 degree picture view of the
church interior and is well worth a visit

Hendrie ,one of our Elders, also is a professional writer and
he has recently penned an article for Scottish
Home & Country Magazine titled "WITCHES,
COMPOSERS AND PREACHERS - THE STORY OF KIRK OF CALDER" It is a
balanced and interesting article on the Kirk and now

left.

Sunday 5th Feb 2012 at 10:30am Morning service.
Sunday School amd Mini Kirks meet in the church before ajourning
to the halls.
Tea and Coffee
are served in the Glenalmond
hall after every morning service, all
are welcome.
Crèche
facilities will will
be available again at each morning service in the
Malt Barn
Fair
Trade Cafe every Tuesday 10am-12noon in the
Glenalmond Hall - Home baking and Fair Trade products - All
proceeds go to the work of the Vine Trust in Peru.
Pumpherston
fortnightly Wednesday services - every second Wednesday at 10:15 in the Pumpherston
Institute Hall (this venue will change shortly with the
opening of the new school)
The Social group are
holding a Beetle Drive in the Glenalmond Hall on Friday
24th Februray at 7:30pm. tickets £3 (£2 concessions)
avalable before or after church services or from Sociial group
members.
All week of the Feb
school holiday week there will be "New for You"
Charity shop from 10am to 1pm each day. From Mon 13th to Wed 15th
Feb the venue will be the Glenalmond Hall, and for Thur 16th and
Fri 17th the venue is Pumphherston Institute Hall. Teas and baking
will be available. Donations of goods for sale is requested - good
quality clothing, bric-a-brac, jewelery, toileteries, books and
baking. Contact Mary 883748,Annette 438610,Ann 437990, Senga
885082 or Jessie 415736 for donations or to volunteer.
The Sunday School
are looking for CD jewel cases for a forthcoming
project.Bring to church and hand to any teacher.
